Wonga Wetlands

The Wonga Wetlands is situated on the Riverina Highway, around 6km west of Albury. It offers 3km of walking paths to visitors, allowing them more time to enjoy its beauty. Also available are facilities where visitors can safely secure their bikes.

It is home to approximately 150 bird species that can be seen all year in their natural habitat. There’s also the traditional Wiradjuri campsite and ancient river red gums in the area. It has a flat terrain, making it suitable for wheelchair access and the elderly.

The Wagirra Trail and Yindyamarra Sculpture Walk

The Wagirra Trail connects the Horseshoe Lagoon to the South Albury Trail in Union Bridge. It’s 2m wide, is suitable for walking or cycling and has several spots where you can take a break for a picnic and savour spectacular views.

The latest addition to this trail is the Yindyamarra Sculpture Walk. 11 remarkable Aboriginal sculptures are lined up along the Wagirra Trail, starting from Kremur Street towards Wonga Wetlands. Many visitors say that it’s a great spot to walk on with the bonus of learning more about Australian culture and tradition.

Noreuil Park + River Deck Café

Just 4 minutes in a taxi from Garden Court Motel, Noreuil Park is a wonderful place for family bonding. Kids and adults alike will enjoy several activities, such as paddle boarding and kayaking. The grand River Red Gums and spectacular Plane Trees provide a scenic background for relaxation and picnics. It’s especially stunning during the summer months of December to February. If you have plenty of time to spare, dine at the River Deck Café – they will have your mouths watering over the regional food and beverages.

Oddie’s Creek Park

Looking for a place to entertain the kids? Oddie’s Creek Park is Albury’s best children’s playground, hosting over 100,000 visitors every year. The 2,000 sq/m area is famous for the big adventure play space that caters to all ages and abilities. This includes the 30m long flying fox, giant bird’s nest swing, and a complex climbing net.

There are also 2 timber structures. The big 5m structure is wheelchair accessible. The smaller one is suitable for younger children, offering rockers, climbers, slides, and a sandpit.

Hovell Tree Park

Hovell Tree Park is just a short walk from the Albury CBD and is conveniently located between the Albury Swim Centre, Albury Sports Ground, and Noreuil Park Foreshore. It’s the junction of the Wagirra Trail and Bungambrawatha Creek Trail. The Park holds several regular events such as Farmers Markets and community bakes in the Wood Fired Oven. It also has barbecue facilities, public toilets, a huge playground, and huge open spaces. It is also only a few minutes from Garden Court Motel, why not stay there?

Padman Park

Several generations of Albury and Wodonga locals enjoy exploring and relaxing in Padman Park. There used to be barely any trees in the area, except the Change Tree, Leaning Tree, and the Big Tree, planted by the locals.  Now it has flourished to a beautiful park where one can observe several bird species.
